PARENTS MEETING RECAP
A short summary of the items discussed at the parents meeting. Questions: feel free to ask the coaching staff.

Welcome to the 2019 Outdoor soccer season:

  1. OSA - EMSA - EMDSL - U13 Girls tier 1. We have been placed in tier 1, because there is no tier 2 teams. We are limited to exactly 18 players in tier 1, and we do not have a 2007 team in Ilderton below us, to call up from. We play 11v11, we need a minimum of 7 players to play or the game is forfeited. If you forfeit it is a:$200-400-600-800 escalating fine, and they can decide just to remove your team from the division. They don't joke around in tier 1 about forfeits.
  2. Players MUST arrive in uniform 30min before games, dressed and ready to warm up. NOT arrive, and then get dressed, etc. READY to warm up.
  3. PARENTS: on the website is the CODE OF CONDUCT: one for parents, players and coaches. You are bound by this code, READ IT. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMENTS / YELLING AT A REFEREE AT ANY TIME. PERIOD.
  4. PRACTICES: We will have 2 per week - if you are in town, attend. We need players to be as consistent as possible with practices, to understand team tactics, positions, etc.
  5. ATTENDANCE MANAGEMENT - I am limiting the forms of information to 2. the team website, will have all games and practices, and the FB page as well. YOU MUST INDICATE ON FB EVENTS ANY TIME YOUR ATHLETE WILL BE ABSENT. If you don't list that you are absent, it will be assumed you are attending. We need to know this for practice and game planning purposes. IF YOU ARE FOUND TO BE NOT INDICATING YOUR ABSENCES - your athlete will be sitting for a half in an upcoming game. FB is the way to indicate your absence. Not, email, text, casual conversation etc. As a coaching staff, we need to be able to go to 1 location, quickly look at our attendance, and then plan accordingly. We can no longer, keep track of the multiple random, emails, texts, and conversations, from 3 weeks or a month prior and know who is missing. Your help and cooperation is much appreciated.
  6. SHORTS: The red shorts still need shorting out: options, 1- bring the red you have, any extra and we will see as a team, if we can get the red to fit. 2 - Lisa is contacting Livy Bean for options 3 - Laura has found an option. Monday after practice we will discuss.
  7. Tournaments: we will sign up for 2 tournaments in the area. Options to be presented.
  8. Player cards: in the next week, you need to send me a head and shoulder shot ( passport style ) of your athlete in their red jersey, and a picture of their birth certificate - email those to me this week.
  9. Comp fee = $80 - cheques to Ilderton soccer, or cash in a sealed envelope with your athletes name on them. Before the first game May 15th pls.
  10. TEAM fee: will be to cover tournaments, and the indoor sessions I have already paid out of pocket for. TBD based on tournaments. They will be split between the 18 players.
  11. PLAYER SATISFACTION / TEAM GOALS:
  • I don't measure our success based off wins.
  • I believe in equal playing time - for those who are committed to the team, practices, attendance etc.
  • each player must play, at least 2 positions. - I can't have 14 forwards only.
  • We coach during the practice, and believe in guided discovery during the games, coaching only the players without the ball, not the player who has the ball.
  • I want your athlete to love soccer, coming the the team practices and games. BUT I'm not a mind reader. If you or your athlete are upset, have questions, suggestions on how they would enjoy the sport better, please feel free to contact me.
  • success is: fielding, a hard playing, competitive team, who wins with dignity, loses with grace, leaves it all on the field, has team mates best interest in mind, loves the sport, and wants to continue to play and be apart of Ilderton Ignite.
